Before I go off on how much I hate my legs right now..I have to tell this funny bit. I was searching on the internet for some stretches or treatment I could do for shin splints...I typed in chin splints. I was quickly told that the sure cure for that would be to pick my chin up off the ground while running. Ha!
So, I am on week 3 now of the couch to 5K....some of you are runners out there....help a chubby girl out.... THESE HURT!!! Have you had these? Any relief?
The walking/ running intervals are deadly...it actually doesn't hurt that bad while running...so I look forward to week 9 when I can run the whole thing! Seth promises me new shoes from a good store that has you run on the treadmill and tells you what shoe is best for you!
Bob from the Biggest Loser..my boyfriend....:).....said this week that a large % of people that have support and someone to do a program WITH, succeed. So, thanks to my girls, Kassie and Jaime for staying strong. Now, no more ice cream after our runs!!!!! ( we really have done that...a couple of times..... baby steps, right????)

Oh I feel your pain! Shin splints are my worst enemy. Ice them before and after you run. You can rub Bengay on them before you run as well. I still have nightmares of my hs trainer putting me in an ice whirlpool. I've never experienced worse shooting pain than that! Stay strong!
I used to get those all of the time. Ouch! Alternate heat and ice and stretch VERY well before each run. You can do it!
I got shin splints too when I started going on the tred mill more. I think it is common to get them. It isn't fun. But they go away. Just keep pushing through the pain for a couple of days, then hopefully, your muscles will get used to it, and stop hurting. Good luck. I think it is awesome that you are doing this.
Awe man, you ratted us out! lol, it's okay, it's time to get very serious. Although, I do think we are the best running group around ;)
I had a friend who had them and they just would NOT go away. She was told to go to a chiropractor, of all things, and it cured her! Go figure. worth a try I think, considering how painful they are. Good luck!

You go girl! I am so proud of you! If I were you I would call Scott Inglish and get a professional to help.
Good shoes totally help! Joe, as a PT totally swears by them, too. I went to a running store and they were fabulous! I wish I could run with you ladies! I TOTALLY need it, but I will lay on my couch feel the sickness of pregnancy! You will be running 10k's by the time I'm ready to get in the swing! But nothing makes you lose weight like running! Have fun!
