I am trying to cut costs and be frugal during this difficult economic time. Seriously....this sucks.
I think I may have learned my lesson for reals this time. ( I love to say for reals)
Local friends and family ...Michelle and Adam and Christine and their traumatized children may remember the "Quasimodo" eye I was sporting a couple of months back. IT started to swell my whole side of my face...so I went to the Urgent Care...or the clinic as us Canadians say....got meds and it got better the next day. The Dr. wasn't sure if it was a bug bite...cause there was a little red dot above my brow...or if I had an allergic reaction to some cheap dollar store eye shadow I tried the day before...or if it was an infection.
So....anyway....my eyeliner ran out. Years ago...I used Elizabeth Arden eyeliner only.....and then we had kids....cut costs...whatever....I found a cover girl one that was 7- 10$ that worked great...and they discontinued it.....I have been successfully using some 9$ one from Maybelline i think. I stooped to the dollar store level and bought some eyeliner there the other day and used it yesterday.
Today - I am Quasi again!!!!! So ugly...I can't even go to Church. So, here I sit at the computer....realizing that my initial thought of......hey!...I'll scrapbbok for 3 hours!.....doing down the tubes....I can't even see out of that eye and it is starting to hurt. so sad. so ugly.

random thoughts
I think I may have killed some neighbourhood cats....they feasted on a mess I cleaned up but forgot to but in the trash can of shards of glass in chicken pot pie. oops. I have guilt...but I felt a little better when I realized they had peed on my welcome mat.
We are the worst parents - we sent our kid to school with a small video camera to film the tirades of their bus driver...who I hate! Hate is bad, I know...but he is horrible. He blows a loud whistle...to the point that my kid's ears ring for hours....he yells...he turns off the air conditioning when the kids aren't sitting down like he would like them to be....the kids are red faced and boiling when they get off. it must be 120 degrees in there! I called his supervisor and the school....
He treats them so crappy....no feet, legs backpacks in the aisle...or he pulls over the bus. The dude literally has to go 1.5 miles to the school.
PLUS, one day I was turning into our neighbourhood..and Seth called my cell phone..I picked it up right before I turned and didn't put on my blinker....and he was at the stop sign in the bus, waiting to turn................. and he ROAD RAGED me....yelling, arms flying....the whole bit.
I just don't think he has the best job for an angry old man with road rage.
He has upset the momma bear.....look out!
glee is on tonight....can't wait.

update
I originally started this blog, so those who live far away could read up on the kids mostly...and I haven't posted pictures in a long time...sorry about that....but Seth isn't home at the moment to help me...pathetic, I know.
But, anyway.....
We accepted an offer on the house!!!!...now we just have to play the waiting game and see if everything goes through...the greatest part of it is that I don't have to be a mad crazy cleaner anymore...whoo hoo!!!! Man, that was taking it's toll on me! It made me think of all the people who keep their houses like that all the time...ladies!!!...there is alot more to life.....not to judge...but that is a whole lotta crazy! My kids would not be the kids they are if I spent every waking minute cleaning....and they are pretty awesome kids...so I think I made the right choice. I Am totally tooting my own horn here...and I hate when people blog about how awesome they are...but oh well....I don't think I am awesome....just glad I read Where the Wild things are and Rumble in the Jungle 500 x a piece!!!!...and painted, played, cooked, and made messes with my kids over the years! what a blessing it has been to be a stay at home Mom.
That being said...it was nice to have it clean when I walked in....for those few fleeting moments...I clearly need a maid. :)
Luke has started practices for fall baseball...only 3 practices a week....with one car.....easy peasy! ( not really). He loves it though...he also got his progress report...he and Hope...all A's!!!! Dad let them mark off a chore for each A.....Lucky!
Hope starts practices tonight for soccer...Seth is coaching again. It is great to see Hope out there on the field...gaining confidence. I just adore that girl! She has a birthday coming up...and a baptism!!! She will be 8 this month!
Ella started ballet again this month...she loves it! If she could stop losing her shoes I would be alot more happy!!! My sister in law and I switch off teaching the girls preschool a couple of times a week...Ella and Lucy love it.
Sadie is potty training. I had to do some lame tests here at home for my kidney stone dr...and we had to be homebound for a couple of days...great time to be naked and potty train. She only peed on the carpet once. She is so funny and sweet...and sassy and feisty too! She is great company. She is really doing great! I forgot how much I hate wiping bums though.
This week has been the best week I have had in a long time. There is a better feeling in our home and things seem like they are going to start to turn. The stresses have not gone away... the ones that do go, seem to quickly be replaced with new ones...but we have so much to be grateful for. WE are blessed and so many people have been kind to us. Thank you!
I have been humbled lately...and seen a few ( of many) areas where I can do better. I am trying. I hope I learn what I am supposed to through all of this.

cougars
As I am driving the kids to school this morning, my usually quiet in the morning boy, leans over and says to me
Luke: " Mom,...today is a very special day for me and Dad."
Me: (pauses)...."really?"...( I am frantically thinking if I spaced something)
Luke nods and follows with :
" Today is the day they come out with the college football rankings and BYU is going to be moving up..."
Seth is proud.

The end of summer???
I keep hearing everywhere that summer is over and fall is in the air...NOT in ARIZONA!!! It was 114 degrees yesterday!!!...and in a couple of months, the nights will cool down and the mornings will be cool..and we can be outside again ( and not have to be at the pool)
I miss those days!!!
I used to really like fall....we don't have fall here...it seems. Last year I went home in late September. That was fall.... it was delightful!
I always read a whole bunch in the summer...being stuck indoors..and having occasional insomnia. I wondered what all of you have been reading....and don't say scriptures...they don't count for this one. :)
So far, I have read:
Dead Until Dark - book one of the Sookie Stackhouse series...too much vampire sex for my liking...so I am going to skip the series.
Three Cups of Tea - book about a super awesome humanitarian Greg Mortensen...fighting terrorism by educating people....it was long..but I am glad I read it.
Night - a holocaust survival book by Elie Weisel...Knowing he lived made it ok for me to read..I usually can't handle holocaust stuff...it is very upsetting to me. I am glad I read this one though. It was short, but intense and it made me wish I knew a Jewish person that I could hug and say " The suffering of your ancestors is significant to me in my life and I am am so sorry for what they endured.
I started Columbine....by Dave Cullen on CD...but I am 12 on the list at the library..I was 64 at one time!
I want to understand how these things happen..something about this tragedy haunts me. I gave up..and will wait for the book. I am pissed now, that I know that so much info is sealed until 2012...in regards to the families of the shooters...that is an area I was particularly interested in.
I am weird, I know.
I almost finished the Potato Peel Society one...but I should have known better than to read something like that...I hate movies like that...so I bailed...Christine told me the end though.
Expecting Adam...just started... I love true stories....
and I have Jennifer Weiner's Best Friends Forever to read in the next 2 weeks as well.
So, what are you reading these days? I am interested!

WARNING: I am grumpy...just a little
Just letting you know up front.....
Today has consisted of what most days consist of lately...CLEANING. Someone had the decency to give me 24 hours notice on seeing the house today at 1:00. ...so I I cleaned for 2 hours this morning...while chatting on the phone with my sister...which made it not so bad. Thank you Dora for those precious hours. Our call got lost and I noticed I had missed 2 calls. So...I check my messages...and ....OFCOURSE....
"Hi, I am so and so ..wondering if I could bring my client to see your house 5 minutes ago?..or maybe in 3 seconds..whatever works best for you....???
Whatever...she really said around 10:00. So, I run to the nearest clock...it reads 10:20. CRAP!!!
So, I quickly call her and say..I need at least a half hour more...I still needed to vacuum the whole house...sweep and take out trash. She agrees and I am like a mad woman running through the house trying to be ready to leave in 30 mins... Thank you Dora again, and the episode about Swiper's birthday party that my girls had never seen and were glued to the TV.
SEth is running behind at this point...and is still home working...but needing to leave. I tell him to shower now..or we will have to start charging for these walk throughs..:)
The girls and I jump in the car and head off to drop books off at the library and be back in 25 mins, so Seth can leave. Literally just down my street, my phone beeps that I have a message.
" Hi there, I spoke with you earlier...yah...we aren't going to be able to make it today...my client's husband's car broke down and she has to go meet him....sorry for making you clean , but I guess you had to clean anyway, since you have that 1:00 showing."
I am pissed. I repeated her message outloud as I fumed. Then Ella pipes up with:
"Mom...isn't that so sad?"
ME: Yes....I can't believe I rushed all around for NOTHING.!!!!!
Ella: That is just so sad..Mom....
me: I know!!! today sucks!
Ella: I am so sorry that that lady's car broke down...that never happens to us..we are lucky.
DING! DING! DING! I was shaken from my selfish, wo is me, poor attitude by my wise and wonderful 4 yr old. Thanks Ella!
but I am still a little grumpy..... we got out of the house at 1:00..Seth had the car so we were taking the 2 foot express with the double stroller...in 106 degree heat.... We only made it around the corner to Michele's house where she let us in and gave us water and let us hang till the kid's bus came at 2:00!!! Phew! thank goodness for friends!
Then...we walked home to find that THEY NEVER EVEN SHOWED UP!!!!!!
This is life right now...but thanks to Ella, I can realize it could be worse...and we are blessed, even when things seem crappy. I need to focus on the little bits of goodness here and there...
thank goodness i get some girl time tonight!! woohoo!!!...I think that will help!

We're back!
We made it! 4 states later...we are home. I must say, that after most vacations I am ready for home...ready for my bed and just ready for our regular routine. ( mostly I just like walking around in my underwear!) This time, I was sad to leave...and wasn't looking forward to coming home. I think alot of that may have to do with the fact that I was sick for a full week while there...like in bed all day sick. I wasn't looking forward to the constant cleaning and showing of the house either! ( 3 times so far today!)
I was really looking forward to having lots of time to see all my friends and family...with no big rush. That did not happen...I missed a few friends even!
It was great to see extended family and good friends that I miss so much.... love you guys!!!....and a big thank you to all that helped with my kids while I was sick.
So, here we are.....got back Sunday night....the kids started school Monday morning! Can't say we didn't make the most of our summer!
Back to showing the house, homework, piano, scouts, baseball, soccer...all the regular life things. As hectic as it has been so far....I realize that I love Arizona...and I really don't want to live anywhere else.
It feels like we have been gone longer than 3 weeks......we have a lot of catching up to do.
Feel free to stop by......but I may be in my underwear....:)
